This Non-Custodial & Risk Disclosure (“Disclosure”) explains important information and risks associated with the use of Coinsnap services, including the Coinsnap POS Wallet App, Bitcoin and Lightning Network payment infrastructure, APIs, plugins, merchant services, and related technologies.

By using Coinsnap services, you acknowledge and accept the risks described in this Disclosure.

2. Nature of Coinsnap Services

Coinsnap is a provider of self-custodial Bitcoin and Lightning Network payment infrastructure and software tools.

Coinsnap provides:

  • merchant payment infrastructure
  • self-custodial wallet software
  • payment synchronization services
  • APIs and integrations
  • e-commerce plugins
  • Bitcoin and Lightning payment tools

Coinsnap does not operate as:

  • a bank
  • a financial institution
  • a broker
  • a cryptocurrency exchange
  • a custodian
  • a money transmitter
  • an investment advisor

3. Self-Custodial Wallet Notice

The Coinsnap POS Wallet App and related wallet services are designed as self-custodial systems.

This means:

  • users exclusively control their private keys
  • users exclusively control their Bitcoin funds
  • private keys are generated and stored locally on users’ devices
  • Coinsnap does not have access to private keys or wallet seed phrases

Coinsnap cannot:

  • recover lost wallets
  • reset seed phrases
  • restore wallet access
  • reverse blockchain transactions
  • access user funds

Users are solely responsible for:

  • securely storing seed phrases
  • maintaining wallet backups
  • securing devices
  • verifying transaction details
  • protecting access credentials

Loss of seed phrases, private keys, or device access may result in permanent loss of Bitcoin funds.

4. Bitcoin and Lightning Network Risks

Bitcoin and Lightning Network technologies involve substantial risks.

These risks include, but are not limited to:

  • extreme price volatility
  • irreversible transactions
  • software vulnerabilities
  • protocol failures
  • routing failures
  • liquidity shortages
  • delayed confirmations
  • network congestion
  • blockchain forks
  • denial-of-service attacks
  • malicious actors
  • wallet corruption
  • hardware failure
  • loss of internet connectivity

Users acknowledge that transactions on blockchain networks are generally irreversible.

Coinsnap cannot guarantee:

  • transaction confirmation times
  • Lightning routing success
  • uninterrupted network availability
  • blockchain stability
  • transaction finality within a specific timeframe

5. Public Nature of Blockchain Transactions

Bitcoin blockchain transactions may be publicly visible and permanently recorded on distributed blockchain infrastructure.

Blockchain information may include:

  • wallet addresses
  • transaction amounts
  • timestamps
  • transaction hashes

Although Bitcoin is often described as pseudonymous, blockchain analysis may allow third parties to associate transactions with individuals or businesses.

Coinsnap cannot alter or delete blockchain records.

6. No Custody of User Funds

Coinsnap does not hold, custody, or control user funds.

Bitcoin payments processed through Coinsnap are transmitted directly:

  • to merchants’ own Bitcoin wallets via xPub configuration, or
  • to merchants’ own Lightning wallets via Lightning Address or Lightning infrastructure

Coinsnap does not take possession of customer funds during payment processing.

7. Third-Party Settlement Providers

Users who wish to convert Bitcoin into fiat currency or receive payouts to bank accounts may use independent third-party settlement providers.

Coinsnap may integrate with providers such as:

Third-party settlement providers operate independently from Coinsnap and may require:

  • KYC verification
  • KYB verification
  • AML compliance procedures
  • regulatory checks

Coinsnap is not responsible for:

  • settlement execution
  • exchange rates

  • compliance decisions
  • account restrictions imposed by third parties

Users enter into separate legal relationships with such providers.

8. Third-Party Infrastructure Providers

Coinsnap services may rely on third-party infrastructure providers, including but not limited to:

  • Breez SDK (Spark)
  • BTCPay Server
  • mempool.space
  • Apple App Store
  • Google Play

Coinsnap is not responsible for:

  • downtime of third-party systems
  • API failures
  • Lightning routing issues
  • blockchain data inaccuracies
  • service interruptions caused by external providers

9. No Investment Advice

Coinsnap does not provide:

  • financial advice
  • investment advice
  • trading recommendations
  • tax advice
  • legal advice

Any information provided by Coinsnap is for informational and technical purposes only.

Users remain solely responsible for their own financial, legal, accounting, and tax decisions.

10. Merchant Responsibility

Merchants using Coinsnap services remain solely responsible for:

  • compliance with local laws
  • invoicing obligations
  • tax reporting
  • accounting requirements
  • anti-money laundering obligations
  • consumer protection laws
  • business licensing requirements

Coinsnap does not guarantee regulatory compliance in any jurisdiction.

11. No Guarantee of Service Availability

Coinsnap services are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis.

Coinsnap does not guarantee:

  • uninterrupted availability
  • error-free operation
  • compatibility with all devices or systems
  • uninterrupted Lightning connectivity
  • successful routing of Lightning payments
  • uninterrupted blockchain synchronization

Service interruptions may occur due to:

  • maintenance
  • software updates
  • network failures
  • blockchain congestion
  • infrastructure outages
  • third-party provider failures
  • force majeure events

12. Device and Backup Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for:

  • securing their mobile devices
  • maintaining operating system updates
  • securely storing backups
  • protecting wallet seed phrases
  • maintaining secure authentication methods

Coinsnap strongly recommends maintaining offline backups of recovery phrases.

13. Optional iCloud Backup Functionality

The Coinsnap POS Wallet App may offer optional encrypted backup functionality using Apple iCloud Drive.

If enabled:

  • recovery data is encrypted locally on the device before upload
  • Coinsnap does not have access to backup contents
  • Apple may process encrypted backup data according to Apple’s policies

Users are responsible for securing access to their Apple accounts and iCloud credentials.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coinsnap and Onlineshop24 DOO shall not be liable for:

  • loss of Bitcoin or digital assets
  • loss of wallet access
  • transaction failures
  • Lightning routing failures
  • blockchain congestion
  • exchange rate fluctuations
  • software errors
  • hardware failures
  • data loss
  • business interruption
  • third-party service failures
  • security breaches caused by user negligence

Users assume full responsibility for the use of Bitcoin and Lightning technologies.

15. Regulatory and Legal Risks

Regulations relating to Bitcoin, Lightning Network technologies, and digital assets may change rapidly.

Changes in laws or regulations may impact:
